When the fingers slide on the surface, the highest biological mechanical feedback is generated. There is interaction between objects. When touching the surface, the fingers perform mechanical strikes, followed by push and sliding movements. Besides mechanical wear, sweat, body oils, and customers' concern about whether the product will deteriorate due to a chemical reaction with the skin when in contact with the product surface, can also be considered. The combined effect of mechanical and chemical forces can be tested using the universal finger wear tester.
The movement of the piston (artificial finger) is simulated through electronic control to model the wear of the product. Unlike other systems that rarely use pneumatic cylinders, which can wear over time and give different results, this system uses linear motors. Each time, the pressure is ensured to be applied precisely, throughout the machine's lifespan.
